How dispatchers decide under pressure

Date Published

A dispatcher makes dozens of judgment calls a day. Most of them arrive mid-conversation, with a clock running and half the information missing.

We followed dispatch teams through their busiest hours to see how those calls actually get made: which signals they trust, which they ignore, and where the plan gets bent to keep promises intact.

The pattern is consistent. Good decisions come from seeing the impact of a disruption early, not from heroics after the window is already missed.
