What AI can and cannot do in a dispatch room

Date Published

Most AI demos for logistics show a perfect day. Dispatch rooms do not have those. The useful question is what a model does at 2pm when a bridge closes and four drivers are affected at once.

Models are good at the parts humans are slow at: spotting the impact of a disruption across a whole fleet, ranking options, and doing the arithmetic on every customer window in seconds.

They are not good at owning the decision. The teams getting value keep the human on the call and use the model to make that call earlier and better informed.
